An Afternoon at The Getty Museum Watching Hummingbirds Play
Yesterday I spent the afternoon at the Getty Museum in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. The Getty is one of the most beautiful museums I've been to. Growing up outside of Washington DC I had access to many museums but none of them have the breathtaking city views and gardens like the Getty.
Parking at the Getty is $15 and there are several EV spots if you want to charge your car. Once you've parked you make your way up a few levels and take a tram to the museum grounds. This is the first view you are welcomed with after stepping off the tram.
The garden terrace cafe has quite the view. I was surprised nobody was enjoying it but then I saw the grassy area by the gardens where several groups were enjoying even better views.
What really stole the show for me yesterday were the hummingbirds. I must have watched these guys play for at least 30 minutes.
Towards the end of the day, after I had enjoyed all the art I could handle, there was a message in the sky 'I love you Albert'.
Here are some great photos of the outdoor gardens at the Getty Museum. Bottom left in @missktjoy's photo quadrant is the central garden designed by Robert Irwin. Bottom right are the bougainvillea arches.
A stunning view of the Getty Museum taken from the central gardens by @willowaflowers.
Fun take on architecture and the curved lines you'll find on some of the buildings here.
Top right of @meadowbaabe's photo quadrant is Van Gogh's Irises. Originally just a color study it was presented at an exhibition and received instant acclaim.
Some lovely marble sculptures on display in the Getty Museum as taken by @nevermindbrissa.

Just one photo of the amazing French frames that you'll find at the Getty Museum.
If those photos and tweets weren't enough you can watch the Getty Museum orientation video that highlights the layout of the entire campus. Lastly, there's a fascinating article on the Getty family and how they amassed their fortune and art collection. Enjoy!
