Break the Rules

Last night on Instagram this is what I wrote:

There are no lines to stay inside of. There is no path to follow. There is only a suggestion of movement.

Abstract art is all about breaking rules and being in the present. There are no prescribed methods. There is no one process. There is only opportunity to trust yourself to be able to capture movement.

I recently found out that some of the movement I captured was featured in Artfinder's new catalogue, The Edit 2016/17. West Coast Wildfire (pictured below, top right) was selected for this catalogue and I was one of the 105 artists out of over 8,000 on the site chosen to be featured.  (Yes, I'm still smiling right now).

Abstract art is quite literally something I can get lost in. I appreciate all styles of art but I gravitate towards art that I can to interpret try to find meaning within. It's more fun when you're looking at something that is not literal. Something that the artist is asking you to feel rather than see. Something that isn't obvious...the things that you truly have to think about to fully understand.
